Faith First, Family Always
Faith is the foundation of everything we do. It’s the ground we stand on, the lens we see through, and the compass that keeps us oriented when life gets loud. From that foundation flows something profoundly sacred: family. Family isn’t accidental or secondary, it’s a trust. A gift. A responsibility placed gently in our hands by God.
When I think about Home Team, I think about that calling. Not perfection. Not performance. Presence. The daily, quiet choosing to love, protect, and nurture what God has entrusted to us.
Faith as Our Shared Compass
Scripture reminds us that building on anything other than God eventually leaves us unsteady. Jesus spoke of a house built on rock, not because storms won’t come, but because the foundation holds when they do (Matthew 7:24–25). Faith isn’t an accessory to family life; it’s the framework that gives family its strength and direction.
Seeing God’s Artistry in Our Children
Writing Home Team pulled my attention to the incredible, unique gifts I see in my kids; their curiosity, their courage, their tenderness, their humor. It stirred a familiar truth echoed in Psalm 139 13–14
13 For You created my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 *I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
I receive that passage as an invitation, to slow down and notice God’s craftsmanship reflected in each child. As parents, we’re given front-row seats to witness how intentionally God forms a life. That glimpse softens us. It humbles us. It teaches us something about how deeply loved we are, too.
A Blessing We Get to Steward
There’s a sacred exchange that happens in parenting. In caring for our children, we catch echoes of God’s own heart. His patience, His delight, His protective love. It’s not a burden, it’s a blessing. One we steward imperfectly, yet faithfully, leaning on grace when we fall short.
Gratitude, Prayer, and Sending
So Home Team ends where my heart naturally goes: gratitude.
Thank You, Abba Father, for the gift of family and the grace that meets us every day.
Thank You, Jesus, for showing us what self-giving love looks like in real life.
And I welcome the Holy Spirit. Your nearness, Your power, Your peace; over my family and over our church families across the nations. May our homes be places of faith, our tables places of belonging, and our lives a quiet testimony of Your love.
